About
WATER

Saudi Arabia is making substantial investments in its water infrastructure to ensure sustainable management of its water resources.
The Kingdom has announced over 60 new water projects worth approximately $9.33 billion, aimed at significantly enhancing its desalination capacity and wastewater treatment facilities. These projects are expected to nearly triple the nation's desalination capacity from 2.54 million cubic meters per day in 2021 to 7.5 million cubic meters per day by 2027, ensuring a reliable supply of water to meet the needs of its growing population.
In addition to expanding its desalination capabilities, Saudi Arabia is also focusing on creating a circular economy within the water sector. The National Water Company (NWC) is seeking private investments to rehabilitate and upgrade 113 existing water and sewage treatment plants, further emphasizing the country's commitment to sustainable water management. These efforts are part of the broader Saudi Green Initiative, which includes comprehensive strategies to safeguard natural resources and promote environmental sustainability across the Kingdom.
